About
RPCSS is a supplemental minigame that simulates the land-based war between city-states. RPCSS is an ideal tool for driving large scale conflict plotlines forward.

RPCSS stands for Role-Play Conquest Simulation System and is used by city-state player teams to build and move virtual armies, manage a treasury, go to war, make allies, and spy on their enemies. This is the second beta version of RPCSS, and is the second version to be played in Second Life. The alpha edition was playtested on Second Life for six months, and introduced some of the most dynamic and intense conflict role-play we have ever had the fortune of participating in.
RPCSS allows a completely player-run storyline to be implemented fairly and efficiently without the need for seers, and without the fear of favoritism or cheating. In short, world domination can happen using RPCSS. It will take strategy and the ability to build allies via role-play. But the bar has truly been raised.
- RPCSS is required use for all head agents of a city-states small council. If you intend to climb your way to the top of the heap and dominate the storylines, you must utilize RPCSS to do so.
Overview
This system has had one Alpha, and is now in its second Beta as significant functionality has either been newly programmed or re-written using new programming tools.
- Regions
- The names on the RPCSS map are regions -- like biomes. They are used to give notifications of actions and determine resources. Things like "An army has been sighted in Wylo Moors" means any one of the hexes traditionally defined as that region -- not specifically the hexes currently controlled by a city-state. Regions are loosely divided along roads but are not intended to be precise. It provides only a general area of the map to explore. Regions in this case are used only for indicating an area of the map something may have happened in.

Introduction
Registration | RPCSS is connected to the Arcovia Hud and will walk players through the process of registering their account and character with RPCSS. |
End of Turn | On Wednesday Night at Midnight SLT the end of turn cycle begins. The order of steps during End of Turn are explained here. |
Notifications and Rumors | Notifications appear on the RPCSS Web Game. Rumors about other factions is currently being redesigned and will not be available until after go live. If you have access to the notifications for your faction you are assumed to have IC cause to know this information. |
Dashboard | The Daskboard is a summary page that shows different information to different roles. It includes general information about the turn and a map to explore hexes. If you have access to the dashboard you are assumed to have an IC reason to have knowledge of the information provided. |
New Player Guide | A selection of recommendations for all new players to RPCSS. This is a work in progress that will be updated as we go along. |
Hud
The Hud can be attached from anywhere on the sim simply by shouting /4hud in local. You can shout by using /shout or by hitting control enter.
Hud Profile Setup | To use either the RPCSS Hud or the RPCSS Web system you will need to create a profile. The profile defines your characters role within the fiction. |
Hud Combat Dice | The RPCSS Hud has a set of combat dice built into the hud. Players personal attack rolls, defend rolls, hit points and saving throws are all handled by the Hud and RPCSS. |
Hud Dashboard | This button takes you to the Dashboard of the RPCSS web interface. |
Hud Inspect | This button on the hud will take you to another players profile screen where you can view some OOC information about the character, and if you are a head agent, allow you to invite a player into your faction. |
Hud News & Rumors | This button on the Hud will take you to the News and Rumors page where the event calender and player posted notices and rumors are kept. |
Diplomat
The Diplomat has less to do each week but it is with them that the buck stops. Diplomats fill in when roles are vacant or when a head agent fails to submit orders.
Request Alliance | The request alliance function is used by the leader to setup alliances with other factions. |
Break Alliance | The break alliance function is used by the leader to end alliances with other factions. |
Pending Alliance Requests | Pending Alliance Requests show up on the Leader screen where they can be accepted or rejected. |
Fire an Agent | The diplomat role has the ability to fire an agent. |
Pass | There is a pass button for every Head Agent Role. You are required to submit an action every week or be demoted. In the case that there are no valid moves for you to perform, you can submit a pass order. You can always submit additional orders even if you issued a pass previously. |
General/Warlord
Warlord Overview | The Warlord Screen provides relevant resource information, a breakdown of the faction's current armies, a list of any submitted actions this turn, the RPCSS Map and Hex Details. |
Armies | The more hexes you control the more armies you can have, and the larger the army can be. An army can never have more than 4 units in it. A unit can be infantry, knights, or siege equipment. |
Muster | Muster is how you recruit infantry, knights and seige equipment. Mustering is a complex process and should be reviewed carefully here. |
Marching Orders | Marching Orders is the primary way in which you move armies around the map, initiate combat, and occupy new hexes. Armies move 4 hexes regardless of terrain or unit composition. |
Support Orders | After marching an army into a hex, you can give it a support order. This will provide a +1 bonus to the first attacked army cojoined to the supporting army. |
Defend Orders | Defend is used to increase the defensive strength of that army for that turn. It does not work if the army is the aggressor, nor does it increase the defensive value of any other army. |

Combat Resolution | At the end of turn, RPCSS will determine the results of any combat that ensues. The process is explained in detail here |
Coin Master
Collect Taxes | You gain 1 gold bar per court level at the end of turn automatically. This is not an action. |
Borrow Gold | If you get into a situation where you are out of gold you may borrow gold from "the bank". |
Raise Court Level | Raising Court Level is one of the most important steps you can take in RPCSS. Raising court level requires you to move armies and occupy hexes. |
Occupy Land | To raise your court level you must gain more hexes. To perform this action in RPCSS is a two step process. You must march an army into the hex you wish to occupy. On the next turn, you choose "Occupy Land" from the list of coin master actions and a screen with currently controlled hexes shown in purple, and available hexes with an army in place are shown in orange. |
Build Resource | The coinmaster function allows the coinmaster to "build out" a discovered resource. The resource must either be in hexes that you occupy (own) or in a hex that your army is sitting in. |
Trade Route Request | The trade route request order allows the coinmaster to setup a trade route with another faction. The resource must have already been built. |

Spy Master
The Spy Master role in RPCSS acts as the spymaster, scout leader, guerrilla warfare tactician, information broker, etc for the faction team. This can be role-played a variety of ways, as there is a variety of things that the spymaster can do in the game. Many of the actions are influenced by the Influence track.
Recruit Spy | You may recruit 1 spy per turn for a maximum number equal to your court level. The spy is not available for use until after end of turn. |
Scout Order | You can order one of your agents to scout a hex and its immediate surrounding hexes. This is an area of 7 hex total. After the end of turn, if there are enemy armies or resources in any of the 7 hexes, their location will be revealed to the spymaster for 1 turn. |
Pass | There is a pass button for every Head Agent Role. You are required to submit an action every week or be demoted. In the case that there are no valid moves for you to perform, you can submit a pass order. You can always submit additional orders even if you issued a pass previously. |
Special Circumstances
Relocate | It is not possible to relocate a home hex in this version of RPCSS. |
Give Hex | If you wish to give a hex owned by your faction to another faction you can record the request on Discord in the #RPCSS-help channel and tell Branwyn.Emerald. Please include screen shot of the hex to give. |
